Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Water, as needed
Ghee or oil, for cooking
Instructions / Recipe:
In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, carom seeds, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add water to the flour mixture and knead to form a soft and smooth dough. The amount of water needed may vary, so add it gradually until the dough comes together.
Once the dough is formed, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes. This will make the dough easier to roll out.
After resting, divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.
Take one dough ball and roll it out into a circle of about 6-7 inches in diameter, using a rolling pin and a dusting of flour if needed.
Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa.
Cook the paratha on one side for about a minute until you see small bubbles forming.
Flip the paratha and spread some ghee or oil on the cooked side. Flip it again and spread ghee or oil on the other side.
Cook the paratha, pressing gently with a spatula, until it is golden brown and cooked evenly on both sides.
Remove the cooked paratha from the tawa and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
Serve the Pyaz Parathas hot with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
Enjoy your delicious Pyaz Parathas !
